The important events

1949: the National School of Administration was created on February 3, 1949. At that time, its mission was limited primarily to the preparation of the candidates to administrative exams.

1956: ENA became a Tunisian establishment on June 21, 1956 and had to form ant train public administration staff of independent Tunisia in order to replace the massive departure of the French civil servants.

1964: taking into account the growing needs of the administration, either as regards the training of civil servants, or the realization of studies and research for the public administration, ENA was entrusted with new missions defined by the reform of 1964. This reform related in particular to the creation of the postgraduate cycle and the reorganization of the two cycles (intermediate and elementary) as well as the creation of a Center for Research and Administrative Studies.

1993: Reform of the continuous training system . A new mode of continuous training was adopted in 1993 and has been applied since 1995.

1997: Creation of various cycles to satisfy the specific needs of several ministries (finance, education, interior...) and public establishments

2004: reform of the initial training and the entry exams to the cycles organized by the school. These cycles were limited to the three following ones:
1. The postgraduate cycle : for the higher management training (sub category A1)
2. The cycle of intermediate management training (sub category A2).
3. The cycle of executive agents (sub category A3).
These reforms have included in particular:

The creation of the Institute of Competency Development of High Officials,

The instauration of a pedagogical committee attached to the department of training in order to ensure a better coordination and evaluation of training programs.

The creation of the center of entry exams and the directorate of training courses and cooperation.

The requirement of new diplomas for the participation in the entry exams to the postgraduate cycle of ENA. Hence, the cycle is intended for candidates having a national master diploma (non-specialized) or higher post-graduate diploma (DEA) in economics and finance, management, or legal and political sciences as well as candidates having national engineer diploma in specific fields (telecommunication, statistics, civil engineering , computer sciences, industrial engineering, energy engineering ).

Adoption of the Multi-choice questions technique in the phase of admissibility: the specialty test (economics or law) in the entry exam to the cycle of intermediate management training and the entry exam (test of general culture) to the cycle of executive agents.
